Anticipating the heavy traffic on school opening, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will open its centralized bus terminal for the southwest-bound provincial buses on the second week of June.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said that the project is pushing through after they public consultations with stakeholders.

The terminal is located at the Uniwide Coastal mall along Roxas Boulevard in Paranaque City.

It will be used by Cavite-bound passenger buses.

“This will be a big help to ease traffic on EDSA,” Tolentino said.

The government plans to put up three centralized terminals for provincial buses.

The other two will be in North EDSA and FTI Complex in Taguig City.

The MMDA also advised motorists to brace for heavy traffic in some parts if Quezon and Caloocan cities this weekend because of scheduled road repair work.

In an advisory, the MMDA said the concrete re-blocking and road repair works started Friday and will go on until Monday.

The roads to be repaired are: Commonwealth Avenue, from Luzon Ave. to North Susana (northbound, fourth lane); Quirino Highway, from Belfast Ave. to Regalado North Ave. (southbound, fourth lane);

EDSA from North Avenue to Corregidor Road (northbound, fourth lane); EDSA from Oliveros St. to Kaingin Road (southbound, fourth lane); C.P. Garcia Avenue, between Magiting St. and University Ave. (going University Ave., first lane from sidewalk); Elliptical Road, between East Ave. and Visayas Ave. (going Visayas Ave., fourth and fifth lane from sidewalk)

In Caloocan City the roads sections under repair are: EDSA Caloocan City afer Malvar U-Turn slot to Hyundai (southbound, Lane 1 beside center island) and EDSA Caloocan City from Bank of Makati to Asuncion St. (northbound, Lane 5 near center island)
