RESPONDING to solve the scarcity of reference books in many of Nueva Vizcaya’s public schools, a non-government organization (NGO) has established child-friendly libraries in four municipalities for more than 3,000 pupils this school year.

The Acts of Hope for the Nation (AHON) Foundation, a non-stock, non-profit organization whose main mission is to bring books and Filipino children together, has established four child-friendly libraries to cater to the needs of the pupils in Bayombong, Solano, Bagabag and Villaverde town elementary schools.

In collaboration with its local partner, Nueva Vizcaya Bayombong Action Group , Inc., (Nvbagi), Jimmy L. Calata, AHON Foundation local project coordinator, said this endeavor is “in response, in particular, to the needs of the public school education system in the country.”

“We bring books and children together through the establishment of fully-functional public elementary school libraries,” said Calata.

Calata said each beneficiary-library receives book donations worth more than P500,000.00 from AHON Foundation, also an affiliate NGO of the Kaya Natin (KN) Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership.

The child-friendly libraries in Bayombong South Elementary School with 774 pupils, Solano South Elementary School with 1,266 pupils, Bagabag Central School with 720 pupils, and Villaverde Central School with 543 pupils will be officially launched in June.
