Rock metal band back onstage in Manila Sunday
Deftones, the kings of rock metal, are back in the Philippines to promote their seventh album, Koi No Yokan.
On Sunday, May 26, the band will be back on local stage to play old favorites and new tracks off their new album, giving Filipino rock fans another taste of that distinct sound that never goes out of style.
They will be rocking it out at the World Trade Center stage, with opening acts from Queso and splintr.com contest winner, Philia.
Deftones is one of the most sought-after rock bands of the century, setting them at par with the likes of Tool, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Foo Fighters and A Perfect Circle, to name a few.
When asked about their one-of-a-kind sound, the band said that it’s a fusion of all influences, coming from each of the band members’ taste of music that range from new wave to heavy metal that sets them apart from all other rock bands.
Deftones has made a name for themselves, coming a long way from their 1994 debut album, Adrenaline. They started out just like any other rock band, with friends just playing around in the garage and rocking their hearts out.
Deftones remains an inspiration to local rock bands in the country, and their return is a chance for the local rock community to come together and show one love for the music and for the band.
The upcoming show is made possible by splintr.com, an online independent music channel that creates a venue for local independent artists to create and share their talents with the music community.
